Manual lymphatic drainage

We are ecstatic to bring Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) to the Boise community with our therpaist Abby. MLD is a treatment using gentle skin stretching movements to clear lymphatic fluid where it is getting stagnant so it can be reabsorbed into the body. The goal is to relieve swelling that happens when medical treatment, illness, or inactivity blocks your lymphatic system from flowing

All of our sessions are held on our crystal amethyst BioMat to bring you the best healing experience. The BioMat uses the power of Far Infrared Therapy which is the core producer of the long list of benefits you receive from laying on the mat. Benefits include;

  • Supports Core Body Temperature

  • Relieves Stress and Improves Mood

  • Heals Soft Tissue

  • Relieves Pain

  • Improves Circulation

  • Encourages Sweating

How does it work?

Your lymphatic system is an integral part of your immune system. It is made up of lymphatic fluid, lymph nodes, lymph vessels, bone marrow, spleen, thymus, tonsils, and adenoids. All these tissues help your body keep fluid levels in balance and fight off sickness and disease.

What your first mld session looks like

Manual Lymphatic Drainage sessions take place in our serene massage suite. You will undress to your comfort level, just like you would for a massage.

Our therapist will begin their session by clearing fluid near the neck and clavicle. This area is the place where all fluid eventually comes to be filtered and then either recycled into the circulatory system (blood) or excreted via poop or pee.

After working this area, your therapist will identify musculoskeletal imbalances in the body and begin creating balance using gentle myofascial release techniques. Once a clear pathway is created for the lymphatic fluid to flow, we will begin clearing fluid in stagnant areas.

Because swelling begins just one millimeter under the skin, little pressure is required to make big changes. This is a slow, gentle, and persistent modality.Everyone's body is different, so therapists will adapt their practice to best help you!
