more and more parents are seeking chiropractic care for their children!

While kids might not experience back pain from sitting at a desk for eight hours a day, they still can be as out of alignment as adults are! From running around, roughhousing with their siblings, and getting bumps and bruises as they take their first steps, kids can accumulate injuries that prevent them from growing properly. Regular adjustments can keep your toddlers and kids feeling their best and allow them to get the most out of their childhood. As an added bonus, kids are able to play with various toys, draw in coloring books, and hang out in our kid-sized teepee as they wait to be adjusted!

From womb to world

Many spinal problems found in adult patients begin as early as birth; even natural birthing
methods can stress an infant’s spine, cranium and developing nervous system. The resulting irritation
caused by spinal and cranial misalignments can be the cause of many newborn health complaints. Colic,
breathing problems, nursing difficulties, sleep disturbances, allergic reactions and head fixation to one
side or the other can often be traced back to stress to the nervous system.

Because it is fairly common for spinal and cranial trauma to occur during birth, many parents
have their newborns checked immediately after welcoming their little ones into the world. In addition to
this, there are many other essential periods of spinal development where spinal alignment can be
adversely affected, such as learning to crawl, sit and walk. As your growing child begins to participate in
regular childhood activities like skating and riding a bike, small yet significant spinal misalignments, also
known as subluxations, can occur. When left untreated, injuries sustained during this period of rapid
growth may lead to more serious health issues later in life, as these subtle traumas incurred throughout
childhood directly affect the continued development of the spine.

how children chiropractic works

The nervous system controls and coordinates the function of all the systems in the body, and
because of this, all aspects of your child’s health may become impaired by nerve interference. With this, it
is important to understand that a chiropractor does not treat conditions or diseases. Rather, the expertise
of the chiropractor lies in assessing the spine for interference and restoring proper nervous system
function. Think about it this way... The 26 vertebrae found in the spine house and protect the spinal cord,
a direct extension of the brain. The spine carries essential information required for the body to function
optimally from the brain to every one of our cells and back to the brain again. These subluxations interfere
with and inhibit the nerves’ ability to transmit this vital information. A healthy and proper functioning body
should have an optimally functioning nervous system allowing for direct transmission of information, from
brain, to spine, to body.
It is important to understand chiropractic adjustment procedures are modified to fit a child’s size, weight
and unique spinal condition. Pediatric adjustments are both gentle and specific to the child’s developing
spinal structures. Most parents report that their children enjoy their adjustments and look forward to
coming into the office, while experiencing a greater level of health while undergoing regular chiropractic
care. As an added bonus, kids are able to play with various toys, draw in coloring books,
and hang out in our kid-sized teepee as they wait to be adjusted! This sounds like a win-win
to us.

what our patients are saying

“I really love this place. The staff is amazing and so friendly. They were gentle and very patient with my toddler (who is off the wall rambunctious sometimes) and they were kind and caring with myself as well. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for chiropractic care for themselves or their babies.”
