What Should I Wear to a Chiropractor When Pregnant?

As you get ready for your first prenatal chiropractic adjustment, you might be wondering what to wear during your first appointment. As the experts in chiropractic care in Boise, the doctors of BoDo Chiropractic are ready to keep your body feeling good during pregnancy with their healing techniques. These adjustments are ideal for pregnant people from the first trimester to well into their third, so it’s important to dress appropriately to get the most out of the experience.

Chiropractic Care is Recommended During Pregnancy

First things first, chiropractic care is one of the best wellness practices expecting mothers can adopt in the prenatal phase of pregnancy. Your body will go through many drastic changes as the baby grows and keeping your physical health balanced is easier with chiropractic adjustments. These special techniques applied by the trained doctors of BoDo Chiropractic allow you and baby to stay relaxed and comfortable.

In addition, prenatal chiropractic adjustments can reduce the need for pain medications that might otherwise be needed to handle common pregnancy discomforts. Many mothers report getting better sleep, feeling less back, pubic, and hip pain, being better prepared physically for labor and delivery, and an easier time recovering in the post-natal phase.

What is the Best Thing to Wear to a Chiropractic Appointment?

Before heading to your first prenatal chiropractic appointment the most important thing to wear is loose fitting clothing that allows you to move freely.

All chiropractic maneuvers can be done over clothing. It is a rare occurrence that you would ever be expected to remove clothing during an appointment, so feel free to wear any bra or other undergarments you are comfortable in.

Fitted leggings or jeans are ok to wear during an appointment, as long as you can still maintain a cooperative range of motion in your legs.

We do ask that you take your shoes off and leave them in our safe cubby area, but it’s more than ok to keep your socks on if you’d like.

It’s ok to wear jewelry, but if it is limiting our ability to perform any adjustments, we may ask you to remove it for a moment.

Lastly, we encourage all of our patients to refrain from wearing tight, restrictive or dirty clothing. You can come to the office bundled up if the weather calls for it, but we’ll ask you to remove any coats, sweaters or other layers that would limit range of motion. Additionally, we ask you to remove hats and belts during the adjustment.

Following this advice will allow you and your provider to have a relaxed and comfortable appointment so we can focus on keeping you and baby in perfect harmony.
